The Garmin Street Pilot III Deluxe is a completely portable satellite navigation system - power is drawn from the cigarette lighter. Two dashboard mounts are included, a friction 'bean bag' mount, and a semi-permanent self adhesive clip mount. An external speaker is moulded into the power lead giving full voice prompts for every junction - in an English accent. . Portability: A business need not own one for every vehicle, but can operate a ‘pooling’ system, ensuring that only vehicles requiring the unit are allocated it on a per journey basis, thus eliminating wasted resources. Private users do not 'lose' the system when they sell their car. . Track log Memory: Upload the track log memory from the Street Pilot to a PC to view exactly where the system has been (see SPIII features). The software that is supplied with the system shows the route taken and average/highest speed over journeys etc, in addition to allowing routes and waypoints to be downloaded from a PC rather than being input manually. European Travel: The CD ROM supplied with the system contains detailed mapping for most of Europe (see Mapping Coverage) allowing navigation throughout Europe (see software screenshot). . Motorcycle suitability: Due to SPIII being fully weatherproof, it is probably the only Satellite Navigation system to be suitable for motorcyclists, when used with an appropriate mount and earpiece. Indeed, a prominent motorcycle & luxury car manufacturer has approved the Garmin SPIII as an official optional extra for their range of motorcycles. Accessories for the Street Pilot: Please note that some vehicles may require an external antenna: (Vehicles with overhanging bodywork above the front windscreen i.e. some motorhomes/vans etc.; Vehicles fitted with a metallic anti-reflective front windscreen and some heated front windscreens; Additionally, regular commuters into dense urban areas, i.e. central London, may appreciate the benefits of an external antenna.)
